Dr. James is a public scholar who utilizes community-based research to study gendered labor. She has written articles, trained professionals, facilitated special events, and taught students at the community, undergraduate and graduate levels for over 15 years. She is dedicated to building teams, communities, and organizations that are committed to making the world a more just and equitable place to be.

Dr. Melissa James has tremendous experience in educating others centering learning on delving into “big questions” in an engaging and participatory way.

Through her teaching, Dr. James works to

Task Force Group 1: Cultural Understandings of Marriage

In this project, religious education students researched, proposed, implemented, & evaluated community actions in response to sexual ethics topics. The group activity pictured to the left encouraged their campus community by asking the question: "What is your definition of family?"
